I went to see Remember Me tonight with my friend, we needed something to do. I don’t know what I was really expecting. Honestly, I’m not as intrigued by Robert Pattinson as most people are, and the reviews have not been that favorable, but I thought it was worth a look. Actually, I was kind of surprised with how good it was. Perhaps the critics were hard on it because Robert Pattinson is, well, Robert Pattinson. But I thought the acting was really good. Pierce Brosnan and RPatz’s big boardroom fight was actually great and Lena Olin is always fantastic, she played the mom. I liked Emilie de Ravin because she isn’t the typical, pretty, tiny actress who looks entirely too dumb to be reciting the hipster dialogue that’s been written for her. She’s a normal looking person and very natural, and you liked her. Kate Burton and Martha Plimpton, both fierce guest stars on Grey’s Anatomy, had little parts but were awesome. The one who really did it for me was Ruby Jerins, the actress who plays Pattinson’s little sister. She’s one of Edie Falco’s daughters on Nurse Jackie, one of my favorites. Ruby as Caroline was absolutely heartbreaking, and there’s one scene that just made me want to burst into tears but I won’t give it away. All in all I’d have to say I really enjoyed Remember Me, although it probably means I have bad taste. I can understand how the ending could be seen as cheap, but I liked the way they revealed it. I might be the only one, but I think movies should be judged on the way they make you feel when you leave the theater rather than some impossible intellectual standard. It’s a romantic drama, and as that it succeeded.
